Welcome to my website design agency!
I founded Emboss in 2010, right after graduating from USF with a business degree. At the time, I wasn’t entirely sure what direction to take. I was working for a former Xerox executive turned entrepreneur, scanning documents using OCR software he built himself. This process of converting physical documents to digital, organizing, and indexing them for businesses to easily search, was my introduction to the world of web experience. We were essentially building mini search engines. But what intrigued me most was how he got customers to pick up the phone and place orders.
His answer? “My website.”
I had grown up with websites in the 90s, but I never fully understood their potential or the complexities behind them.
When he shared the intricacies of website design and explained how SEO helped him appear in search engines, I was hooked. My excitement quickly met challenges—even something as simple as unzipping a file on a server felt overwhelming! But my skateboarding roots taught me persistence, and I refused to give up.
From that moment on, I committed to continuously learning and refining my web design skills. Looking back at my early projects is both humbling and amusing… I might even upload a few for fun if I ever dig them out of my old hard drives.
The web was a wild and unpredictable place back then. Your site could be hacked in an instant or crash for no apparent reason. I vividly remember a 10pm call from a Miami hospital telling me their website was linking to an adult site—only on mobile! It was fast-paced damage control, and I loved the adrenaline of solving the problem.
Through the years, I’ve continued to hone my craft and still recommend WordPress as my go-to tool on a LAMP stack. There’s nothing better than enjoying a warm cup of coffee while working on a project that businesses are proud to share with the world, especially when it helps them grow, take care of their employees, and support their families.
Over a decade of independent, full-time web development has taught me patience, perseverance, and the importance of trust—always putting my clients’ success above my own. I’m not sure how long I’ll continue, but it still excites me and opens up a world of infinite possibilities, from design and development to apps, software, video, advertising, and branding. I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
